Many animals go extinct every year and many more are considered endangered. These three animals came back from thought extinction and were rediscovered still alive. Their populations bounced back to endangerment and away from never being seen again. While many have been proven to still be alive these are the most recently rediscovered.

1.Albany Adder

The Albany Adder is believed to eat small reptiles and rodents.

The Albany Adder was recently found in South Africa after it had been considered extinct in 1937. A team who set 0ut in November 2016 found living 4 individuals slithering around (and 1 dead) which made them confident in the species survival combating (thought) extinction. This later increased to 12 later on which confirmed the snake is in small population status and wasn’t extinct. What might have caused the extinction prediction, habitat loss, their are very little patches of brush for them to camouflage into, yet they are small. The location of their finding has not been announced to protect them from threats bringing them close to actually being extinct. They are so rare that we do not know how venomous it is, its definite habitats and population number.

2.New Guinea Highlands Dog

This wild dog is similar to its domesticated ansester the New Guinea Singing Dog.

This rare new guinea wild dog lives in the dense forests and mountains. They were considered extinct over 50 years ago.  They known as or closely related to the semi-domesticated New Guinea Singing dog, which only exist in captivity and as pets for some native tribes.  These dogs are commonly in a golden color but, can be found in cream, ginger, roan, or black, with different markings and patterns. Camera traps caught pictures of them in 2016 and confirmed they are not extinct. Many were exited because they believe these primitive dogs could be similar to the transformation wolves into domestic dogs.

3.Myanmar’s Jerdon’s Babbler

This bird was thought extinct but was rediscovered by a small research team.

The Jerdon’s Babbler was discovered in Myanmar on May 30, 2015 after it was considered extinct in July 1941. A research team discovered it after hearing its distinctive call. Days later they found a few more scattered around the same sight. The bird is described as small, about the size of a sparrow  and a light brown. They faced major habitat destruction to make way for cities. Their discovery not only proved to people that they still exist but that their grassland habitat exists and moves were made to protect it. Unlike the others who’s population number is unknown or is very little, the babbler is vulnerable and has fairly good number(2500-9999).
